Year 6 Events

17th October:              Year 6 - Trip to London          09:00 – 19:00     Houses of Parliament, London Eye, River boat                   Year 6

In both their Geography and History topic this half term, Year 6 have being learning about Europe, the EU and Brexit, as well as how Parliament works and how rules are decided. To support this learning they will be visiting the Houses or Parliament on Monday 17th October. Whilst they are there they will first complete a guided tour which includes a visit to the House of Commons, House of Lords and the Prince’s Chamber. They will then take part in a workshop focusing on laws and debating.

As if that wasn’t enough, they will also be seeing London by boat; taking part in a cruise along the river Thames where they will learn about the different landmarks and the history of London before seeing London from above with a trip on the London Eye – which fits in nicely with the book they have been focusing our English around: “The London Eye Mystery”.

The children will need to bring a packed lunch and a packed tea, as well as snacks and a water bottle to keep them going throughout the day.

Please make sure your child is wearing school uniform, sensibly wearing shoes they can comfortably walk in, warm coats and waterproofs depending on the weather.

The children will be leaving school at 09.20 to catch the train into London and will return to school for approximately 19.00. You will need to collect your child from school at 19:00 – we will not be able to drop children off on the way.

We are asking for a donation of £25.00 to cover the cost of the day’s events which can be paid online via PAY360.
