National Story Telling Week

During the week beginning 1st February. The children of Ridgefield Primary School were treated to a series of Story Telling related activities. It was National Story Telling week and instead of focussing on the act of reading stories, we tried to focus in the aspect of oral storytelling. The children saw a lots of different people telling them stories – from Stephen Kent-Taylor, the Chair of Governors, Mr. Axten-Higgs, Mrs. Trew and a very special storytelling from Mr. Claughton wearing a wig in a colour not found in nature! There were games like bingo, in which children tried to complete their grid of words by listening carefully to see if they could hear them appear in the story. Activities like creating a patchwork quilt of stories you’ve heard and even activities like going for a walk to collect the stories the trees in your local area might tell you. It was a lot of fun and added something different to Remote Learning during these very strange times! S
