6K: British Antarctic Survey Visit

The wonderful and well-travelled Athena Dinar (the Press and Information Officer of the British Antarctic Survey) came into school today to talk to year 6.

The children learned lots about the work and the purpose of the BAS, as well as what it is like to live and work in the desert extremes of the coldest place on Earth. At the end of the talk, we got to dress up in genuine Antarctic equipment and ask any burning questions that they had (including how to go to the toilet when the temperature is negative 89 degrees - the answer is: "quickly").
